Bhuni Khichri by: SJ


1 /4 cup moong daal
1 cup rice (not basmati)
1 Onion
1/2 tsp jiro
5 Cardamom
5 Cloves
3 stcks of Cinnamon
1/2 tsp whole black pepper
1/2 tsp garlic
1/2 tsp ginger
1 -2 whole green chilli split in half
1 tsp salt
some coriender


Soak moong daal and rice for 30 minutes
heat oil fry onion when transperent or just browning add all other ingredients and fry again for 2 -4 minutes.
Add 1 1/2 cups water with salt. When water starts to boil add rice - daal, switch to low heat and add Coriender mix and cover for 10 - 12 minutes.
Place in the oven for 10 minutes at 300* F covered. Remove from oven mix and let it stand for 10 -15 minutes.
