KHEER By: Nazlin (Dubai)


1 cup Broken Rice
3 cups Milk
cup Sugar
1 cup Evaporated Milk
1 small tin Condensed Milk
3-4 Cardamoms
8-10 threads Saffron (soaked in warm 1 tbsp. milk)
Almonds and Pista for Garnish


Soak rice in water for 1 hr. Boil till completely done. Drain any excess water. Add fresh milk, sugar, cardamoms and saffron.
Cook on medium heat for about 15 minutes. Now add the Evaporated Milk and heat for a further 5 minutes.
Put off the heat and add the condensed milk. Mix well. Garnish with almonds, pista and saffron.

You can also make Kheer using Rice and Sago (Sabudana). In this case, use cup Broken Rice and cup Sago.
Sago cooks very fast so it is ideal to microwave it in water for about 7-10 minutes and mix it with the boiled rice.
