Mchuzi ya Dagga

Dagga means dried smelt (2 ½ - 3 inch fish) If you do not get dried use canned or frozen. I have also tried replacing dagga with a can of tuna.

Ingredient:

½ lb smelt

1 large Onion

½ Cup Tomatoes (cut in small pieces).

1 tsp Curry Powder

¼ tsp salt

Green Chillies cut in half to taste.

½ Lemon

2 tablespoons Oil

¾ teaspoon Garlic & Ginger paste

Method

Fry Onion cut thinly until slightly brown. Add smelt and let it fry for few minutes. Turning often.

Add salt, garlic, ginger and tomatoes.

Add rest of the ingredients.

Add water as much as you like.

Let it simmer for 10 - 20 minutes.

Add Corriender to garnish.

How to add a little Notch.

Baam with ½ tsp of red chilli powder

Add ½ green bell pepper

½ red pepper

½ yellow pepper

½ tsp masalo from good Kerry Athano

Enjoy as you like with Chapati, Rice or Ugali
